Describe the biological role of nucleolus and and its 3 structures.

Chromatin dynamics (i.e., higher order structure of chromatin) affects gene expression. Describe how the mitochondrial genome is organized and how regulation of mitochondrial gene expression is accomplished.

According to the endosymbiotic theory, early eukaryotes acquired the mitochondrion from a symbiotic bacterium. What happened to the bacterial genes?

Firstly I could do with a brief description of mitochondrialDNA. How does the structure of DNA in mitochondria compare toanimal DNA (for the sake of simplicity let's say human - someanimals might have unusual DNA structure) and what living organismis the mitochondrial genome most akin to? (Circular like bacteriamaybe?) and are the mitochondria within a single humanhomogenous?

Secondly, and most importantly to my aim, does the mitochondrialgenome recombine in anyway? Is the process of recombinationaffected by its structure? Are there any patterns/rules inmitochondrial recombination? Is there DNA transfer betweenmitochondria which could have a similar effect?

I am trying to think about how male deleterious alleles canspread differently in diverged populations given potentialrecombination to female beneficial (or recombination away fromfemale deleterious mutations).
