Enviro science 1a03 unit 2: weather and climate. Earth is made up of several interlinked systems. Each system can be clearly defined, they interact with each other, and their part interact within the system- a set of interacting interlinked elements forming a complex whole: atmosphere: Thin blue region along the edge of earth. Mixture of gas molecules, small suspended particles of solid and liquid, and falling precipitation. Includes the gaseous part of earth from its surface to the exosphere where the atmosphere gradually merges with space. Delicate life giving blanket of air surrounding the earth. Without it, there will be no lakes, oceans: lithosphere/ geosphere: Encompasses the solid earth, includes all the rocks and solid features that make up the planet. It also includes soil which is treated as a separate system called pedosphere. Source of nutrient for living organism and the land form provides habitats: hydrosphere: Earth"s watery parts, fresh, salty, frozen water.
