Short answer: 6/8 will be on exam and i will have to answer 3, describe, identify, define or compare and contrast, primary & secondary deviance. Primary deviance: involves any non-normative behavior, belief or physical characteristic that violates a rule, norm, custom. A social mirror is now provided to the individual (people are saying you"re bad, they don"t like you) Involve changing goals, pursuing other means, or both (running drugs, bootleg alcohol: some types lead people into deviance, some do not, e. g. conformists, ritualists, innovators, retreatists, rebels, neither conformists nor ritualists pose threats to the soc. ____________________________________________________________ focus on the tenets of the approaches discussed. How each theory accounts for the creation/existence of deviance: e. g. biology, social structure, geography, reactions to, what are these approaches in response to, limitations of other theories, rapid changes in society, breakdown of social norms.
