Divorce is more common now almost 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce, however reasons could be the more inclusive laws that are tolerant of divorce. Different types of families due to divorce blended families, stepchildren, stepparents, etc. More people living single lives or not in committed relationships, friends with benefits, etc. Increase in child-less families (began to grow in late 1990"s) We pity people who cannot have children. We are having children below the replacement rate (traditonally 2 children) Mothers and fathers who choose to divorce must come before the judge and must tell the judge their plan to raise the children jointly and if there is an agreement, the judge will decide for them. More women in the workforce after world war ii. 2 variable that brought canada from being #1 ranking to #6 ranking in places to live are: child poverty, our treatment of indigenous peoples.
