Visual system consists of 32 separate systems, each dealing with a different visual characteristic, such as color, motion, location, and other visual properties. Binocular vision: vision where both eyes look at the same place to generate a coherent image in the mind. Human eyes take in a 2d image, but the mind turns it into 3d with mental processes. Stereopsis/binocular depth perception is when the mind has a 3-d understanding of the world around you, allowing you to interact with it. Once you see an object and understand it, you will automatically see it the same way after that. Humans have the power to fill in missing info or filter out parts of an image. What we see is interpreted by our brain using conceived knowledge. An image generated from a stimulus is matched to an internal representation called a template. Problems: entirely dependent on physical characteristics, fails to take into account larger context or meaning.
