Rationalism: the pursuit of truth through reason and logic: explain structuralism and functionalism in relation to empiricism. Structuralism: emphasizes the elemental constituents of experience; if we can break down things into simpler parts and understand these, then the whole thing can be understood. Example: when perceiving an apple, a structuralist would say you received redness, roundness, sweetness and crunchiness; a functionalist would think about why we perceive apples. Verifiability: experiment can be replicated giving the same result. Publish your results and/or present them at a conference.
