Stigmatized others: individuals who are presented (through the media) as threats to the way of life of decent people. Absolute others: individuals presented as inherently evil and include those who commit exceptional crimes, such as suicide bombers, pedophiles who kill children, and children who commit acts of murder. Stigmatized others can be elevated to absolute others via the media. Administrative research rests on the assumption that the media can affect people"s thoughts and feelings and their behaviour. It analyzes the effects of media messages on individuals. Has a positivist foundation, administrative approaches to the study of media are interested in uncovering cause-and-effect relationships. People tend to hold the belief that advertising is effective, however is more effective upon others than themselves. Found that when people are repeatedly exposed to particular advertisements, their brand recognition increases, they develop positive associations with those brands, and they subsequently wish to purchase those specific products.
