Ureters: carry urine from kidney bladder. Urethra: carries urine out of the body, longer and narrower in males. Desert animals have large medullas to recover maximal luid. Mostly composed of collecing ducts emptying into pelvis. Redundancy allows for 70% loss of funcional mass without clinical signs of renal failure. Filters blood only molecules smaller than 70,000 mw pass through. Pressure generates ilter so luid goes into tubule to be selecively recovered by epithelium (these are stable, can regenerate as long as there is an architecture) Cluster of sensory cells in renal tubule posiioned near aferent and eferent arterioles of glomerulus. Filtrate is modiied as it travels through renal tubules. Causes eferent arteriole to constrict, increasing pressure in glomerulus. Increases sodium and potassium reabsorpion in kidney increases totally body water. Renal tubular cells are stable can regenerate if tubular outline (basement membrane) is intact. Glomerulus and intersiial cells have limited ability to respond, ibrosis oten occurs.
