The role of the amygdala had not been tested yet. The objectives were to test whether amygdala damage interferes with process of decision-making and to test whether the amygdala and the vmf cortex play different roles in the process. 1) amygdala is a critical structure necessary for somatic state activation and for implementing advantageous decisions.
