Document Summary

I am confused about origins of the indirect pathways. In the book it states that the origin is the basal stem nucleus, but during the lectures i believe you stated that the origin is the cerebral cortex. By basal stem nucleus i guess you mean basal nucleus or the more common term (6000 times more common) basal ganglia". All you had to know about basal ganglia is that it gets input from the cortex dopamine from the substantia nigra and that it relays via the thalamus to the premotor cortex. Advanced consideration (not our job in 1106) would point out that there are direct and indirect circuits within the basal ganglia. This is nothing to do with the direct and indirect descending motor pathways except that the same words are used. I didn"t understand what you mean when you say : Muscarinic receptors occur on all effector cells innervated by postganglionic cholinergic fibers (all parasympathetic a sympathetic to sweat glands)
