Does not work because you can change your mind. Not that they held a different belief, they act inconsistently to what their current belief/claim is. Exm: someone claiming to be an environmentalist and drive battery powered cars but yells out of their suv. When we suggest that the circumstances (or life, group) that someone is in, is a reason for not believing their argument - related to credibility. Just because someone is not credible, does not mean their claims are false, just need to critique it more closely. Exm: i"m not believing what you say because you are apart of a certain group usually saying someone is self-interested. Create a negative attitude about someone before even hearing what they say based on who you"re associated with.
