Structured (create natural environment, but staged to produce behaviours of interest: sampling behaviour with tasks: when direct observation is dif cult, self reports: children are asked to re ect on a topiv, includes questionnaires and interviews. Rely on informer"s knowledge, memory and ability to communicate: case studies. A wide range of information is described through the study of one child.
