Document Summary
Biology lectures one and two: tree of life plants. All life on earth depends on plants, for example; for oxygen and for a food supply. Five main groups of plants: bryophytes, lycophytes, ferns, gymnosperms, angiosperms (flowering plants) Prokaryotes are grouped into two groups : kingdom one: bacteria, kingdom two: archaea. Eukaryotes is grouped into : slime molds, algae, fungi, plant algae, animals, etc . Bryophytes are split into four groups: mosses (12000 species, mosses (12000 species, hornworts (100 species, liverworts (6000 species) Seeding plants: gymnosperms (900 species, angiosperms (270,000 species) Vascular plants: gymnosperms, angiosperms, ferns (12000 species) Bryophytes have a simpler internal organization of the leaf. We don"t know when bryophytes actually came and about. Lose water very easily through the plant leaf surface (both the upper and lower sides of the leaf) Will find itself desiccated and without water when the heat touches the surfaces of the plant.
