Good sentences are the basis of good essays each sentence should add meaning and be as effective as possible. Tips for sentence writing: subject/verb: make sure your sentence clearly presents its main noun and action (avoid. Bad: the car is turned into a symbol. Images: the concrete, sensory images are often the most effective and easy things to connect to in a poem. Meter: if it"s not a free verse poem, meter is generally important, pay attention to the regular meter and look for variations to that meter because they often are significant and purposeful. Once you"ve established what the stylistic elements of the poem are, pick a few (2-4) that have an effect that points toward the same theme/message in the poem. I personally like to develop a small outline of what each paragraph will be about before i start writing.
