Kidney supports: renal capsule: innermost layer attached to surface of kidney, protects kidney, adipose capsule: protective mass of fatty tissue, cushioning function, renal fascia: dense tough irregular connective tissue, outmost layer. Has an anterior and posterior layer: together protect the kidney.
