Exam notes: don"t rely on the muscle charts completely! Ask questions relating to the primary functions of the muscle. Name muscles based on shape, attachments and number of origins. Rectis means straight (straight muscle) anterior region explains the location. Pectoralis major is peres major meaning larger than the pectoralis minor. Each name of the muscle has a meaning to draw out function, identity, attachment, and innervation. In the extremities there are names on the function. Within that group we know the one nerve innervating the one muscle. Extensor digitorum longus extends the digits, (longus is the longest of the muscles that extend it) (breavia is smaller counterpart) Attachment to a bone likely means it moves that bone by pulling it. Insight not to miss it (biceps meaning two origins, two heads) there is a short head and a long head (triceps meaning three origins, three heads)
