Roanoke: identification-a british colony originally founded in 1585 to trade, farm and mine. Native americans later killed this group of settlers. A new group of settlers came to populate the island in 1587. After settling and encountering hostile native americans, john white returned to. With little help when he returned he found that the more than one hundred colonists he had left there had disappeared. Significance- due to the mysterious disappearance of the colonists the british feared establishing another colony or funding the start up of new colonies. As well this event made people fear the native inhabitants because of speculation of hostility. Quakers: identification- a group of religious christians who believed in pacifism. This group of people was persecuted in england due to resistance to pay taxes to fund the british military.
