Women"s position in the labour market and within the private sphere as well. They are the primary unit of analysis in the course. ^- women is a complex social category in theoretical terms encompassing social differences. With that said, men as the focus of analysis must not be disregarded. We undertake an analysis of women"s and men"s work. Dominant discourse of ideal notions of masculinity and femininity. Understanding women"s works lives requires the counterpoint understanding of men"s lives. The conceptual male and male standard permeates to the labour market. The focus is on gender relations and the organization of such relations, both paid and unpaid work. Gendered division of labour is the primary focus of our study. Gender relations are organized within the household and then extends into the public sphere or domain. Different axes of social comparisons contribute to shape one"s life. Gender is not a fixed term: it is constantly subject to changes, as is evidence throughout history.
