Medieval defines the period between the dismantling of the roman empire and the 14th century. Middle ages refers to post roman pre modern times. Medieval view of the shape of the world were a mixture of first hand, second hand and a imperfect perception of classical ideas of the world. Divides continents of the world africa, europe and asia, asia being the biggest. The t represents the dividing bodies of water between the continents, Division of zones, a northern zone, a temperate harsher zone, a habitable middle zone, back to a less livable temperate zone and the back to a harsh zone mirroring the north. Its difficult to tell how the common person of the middles ages perceived the world, there are a few examples such as descriptions of scandinavia to king. Alfred the great, which generated enough interest in his court to be written down.
