Stone age ends when agricultural societies develop about 12 thousand years ago; pottery, precious stones, gold, copper. Bronze (copper plus tin) age: from about 3500 bce; (metal agricultural implements, weapons, art) First writing on crete; in mesopotamia (sumerians) and in egypt around 3000.
