Document Summary

Ethmoid bone plays large role in formation of nose. Bony portion of nasal septum is made of perpendicular plate coming from ethmoid bone down. Small bone from hard palate is the vomer. Perpendicular plate of ethmoid bone and vomer together make up large portion of bony part of nasal septum. Front part of nasal septum is cartilaginous so don"t break bone. Has shelves of bone coming out from lateral wall and project medially to septum. Below is inferior concha, doesn"t belong to ethmoid, is separate piece of bone. Superior meatus is covered by superior conchus and accordingly (note: inferior concha slightly covers as a note). Lateral walls are not necessarily smooth, are fairly rippled due to concha. Idea is that the respiratory system is lined with mucus membrane. Is also made of parts of maxilla, frontal bone and sphenoid but major are ethmoid and vomer.
