Mutually exclusive events are such that only one event can happen at any given time. Such probability may be determined by the use of the multiplication rule, which states that the probability of the joint occurrence of two or more independent events is the product of their separate probabilities. Independent events are those in which the outcomes aren"t connected in any way.
