Main aim _ to investigate if the proportion of babies having different attachment types from previous studies matched with their study in italy . The stranger situation" was used to assess seventy- six babies . 36% of the infants in the research had an insecure - avoidant attachment type compared to 50% who had a secure type attachment. In conclusion a great change to patterns of insecure & secure attachments can be made due to changes in culture. Harlow used an independent measures design where there were two wire model mothers. "the sixteen baby monkeys were split into two different groups. In condition a 8 baby monkeys were given milk by the wire mother". In condition b 8 monkeys were given milk by the cloth covered. In preference to the wire mother" the baby monkeys cuddled the soft object. Even if no milk was dispensed and they were afraid they sought comfort from the cloth mother".
