Wellness- optimum health thru achieving state of physical, mental, and social well- being. Etiology- study of the origins and causes of illnesses. Conversion hysteria- freud (unconscious disturbances can cause physical ailments) Psychosomatic medicine- treats and studies diseases brought on by emotional disturbances. Systems theory- all levels of an organization are linked and if one changes the rest change. Epidemiology- study of frequency, distribution, and causes of disease. Morbidity- number of cases of illness that exist. Morality- number of people killed by an illness. Randomized clinical trails- randomly assigned to either control or experimental group. Correlational research- measuring two variables and determining if they are associated with each other. Prospective research- study where people are followed into the future to see what conditions caused the illness. Longitudinal research- repeated observation and measurement of individual over time.
