What is social welfare: social welfare includes both social services and income security, social welfare refers to the way people, communities, and institutions in a society take action to provide certain minimum standards and opportunities, and to help people face contingencies, including social services which is personal or community services provided to help individuals and families improve their social well being. ex) child care, protection services, women"s shelters. , includes income security which is financial or material assistance provided to increase the income or other resources of individuals and families. ex) employment insurance, social assistance, old age security, workers compensation, the welfare state is the range of programs and services that are available to canadian citizens, the key elements of this are: the use of state power to provide essential social services to citizens. ex) government, the judiciary and political parties. use of grants, taxes, pensions and minimum income programs to provide income security.
