Line: line gives de nition; give forms to various shapes. Shape: enclosed two dimensional object within an artwork. Chiaroscuro: contrast between black and white: treatment of light and shade in artwork gives dimensionality through contrast. Artistic rendering of a scene; voice or perspective of artists can be in uenced by history, culture, time, etc. Atmospheric perspective: the depth created in an image. Illusion of depth, recession in a painting or drawing [outdoor, landscape] Foreground: ground or parts situated or situated in the front. Background: part of a scene that is farthest from the viewer. Middleground: middle of a painting area bw foreground and background. Shape relationships: the way shapes interact with e ach other according to size & colour = creating composition. Tension: balance maintained in an art work between opposing forces & elements: controlled dramatic or dynamic quality.
