Description
Perspectives Wed. Night Class 4/4/12 Kierkegaard • Christianity  o Faith # knowledge o Faith = being faithful, fear for your happiness, repent, expect a certain  type of future o Duty o Resignation o Paradox  book dedicated to faith and an explanation of what faith is • K’s take is faith is not about know the right things about God  o Faith is an enormous paradox o No way of getting around the fact that what Abraham was about to do with  his son was murder, but it was what God wanted him to do  ▯therefore God alone is capable of turning something that is absurd into  something entirely different  ▯to believe in God is to be faithful to God, so Abraham’s trial not about  murdering his son, it’s about obeying God  But does this kind of faith bring you to happiness? • Being faithful not just about resigning yourself to the fact that you have to do  what your told, but resigning yourself to learning how to trust the blank unknown • Most Christians end up living by their faith by doing what they’re told  BUT faith definitely goes above and beyond simply what is blind obedience Q #9 from handout: What does it mean to say the individual has an absolute relation
