Waste products - byproducts of metabolism (urea, etc. ) Buffy coat: white, thick portion of blood made of wbc"s and platelets o. The cellular components (formed elements) of blood include red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. o. The plasma portion of blood consists of water, proteins and other solutes. Transport o2, co2, nutrients, hormones, heat and wastes to and from cells. Regulates homeostasis of all body fluids, ph, body temp, and water content of cells.
