Document Summary

Procaryotic: unicellular; has dna, ribosomes and vacuoles; much smaller. Eucaryotic: contain membrane bound organelles such as a nucleus. Cell walls: structural component; plant and bacteria cells. Inner and outer membrane made up of phospholipids and proteins. Which organelles contain dna? organelles: membrane-enclosed structures within eukaryotic cells. Houses chromosomes; contains nucleoli; regulates what comes in and goes out. Contains most of the genes in the eukaryotic cell. Located in nuclear envelope: double membrane, lipid bilayer with proteins, nuclear side lined by nuclear lamina: netlike array of protein filaments. Dna is organized into chromosomes: structures that carry the genetic info. Bound ribosomes: attached to the outside of the endoplasmic reticulum or nuclear envelope. Endomembrane system: nuclear envelope, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, lysosomes, vesicles, vacuoles and plasma membrane. Transport of proteins into membranes and organelles or out of cell. Metabolism and movement of lipids, detoxification of poisons. Extensive network of membranes; accounts for more than half total membrane in eukaryotic cells.
