Controversy over evolution is a theory not a law. The stickers in textbooks weren"t okay because they singled out evolution amongst many theories. Religion vs. science: please give the anthropological definition of culture. What are some traits that define it for anthropologists: culture is a set of learned behavior and ideas that humans acquire as members of society. Culture consists of the abstract values, beliefs, and perceptions of the world. (knowledge, belief, art, morals, laws, customs, traditions, etc: traits of culture: Symbolic: something that comes to stand for something else. Culture & nature: converts natural urges & acts into cultural custom. Integrated: patterned systems of customs that are related. Adaptive / maladaptive: humans can live where we want to. Individual practice: humans have ability to avoid, manipulate, subvert, and change.
