V1 cell receptive fields: areas where the cell will start responding if light is shown there, if that layer responds, then the next layer up responds as well. The response of the visual cortex has to do with earlier pathways. Combination of areas, each neuron is specific for a specific area and combines to form the complete picture that we see. Ffa & ppa: fusiform face area, parahippocampal place area. One responds to faces while the other one responds to places. Has to do with what you see and not so much with the v1 cells that are receptors for specific things (lines, edges, colors). The response of the areas is correlated with experience of seeing those things (faces or places). Choking: link between working memory and choking (under pressure, under perform). Study looked at performance when exposed to a low load vs. high load.
