1. 1) documenting business processes: business process model and notation(bpmn, global standard for documentation, roles and actors. Role is a subset of the activities in a business process that is performed by a particular actor. Actors can be people; in the opening vignette, jake is an actor who could play the role of food runner in the drive-thru process: swimlanes. These roles are often identifiable in the abstraction or model using swimlanes that separate the various roles in the process model. Each lane contains all the activities for a particular role. Make it easy to determine which roles do what. Record payment activity means that the data named on that arrow (amount) is sent from the customer payment activity to the record. Payment activity: a repository is a collection of something, usually a collection of records. 1. 4) how much detail is enough: we should include as many activities as required to avoid ambiguity.
