There are wide variations from case to case when it comes to depression, this disease presents a certain phenomena that is a fairly regular occurrence. Involutional depression develops in a predisposed type of individual that is almost as characteristic as that observed in manic-depressive psychosis. The pre-psychotic personality is characterized by a certain rigidity and lack of adaptability in general. People who are later to develop the manifestations are often hard working, exacting, meticulous type, managing their businesses or their homes in a methodical way. They have a very strong sense of duty. They make social contacts carefully with the end goal in advancing themselves of their spouses. They take pride in revealing to others their superiority in the management of the house, the business, well mannered children. One of the patients was uncomfortable if her christmas shopping was not finished by thanksgiving. Another patient was extremely meticulous when it came to spiritual matters and sought advice from a priest.
