Weighing candidate who is best for israel vs us--not simply repub/dem--actually a much more complex strategic poli calculation. Mcgovern is the better choice bc he will increase democratic participation. Fine for israelis to indicate their interests, but to pressure to such an extent is demeaning and overblows potential outcomes of election. Us jews r not the israel lobby. Israel the state is subordinate to the world jewry. Disturbing that us jewish leaders do not rebuff israelis. Israel is excuse to vote to protect new wealth. Voting for a repub (nixon) for first time. Israel is a jewish issue, and there is no shame in voting for the candidate who will more strongly protect jewish interests. Nixon will pursue an open/just society in a just manner (ex: no quotas) Voting for nixon upholds trad jewish commitment to justice and social change. Ortho rabbis r silent on vietnam except to criticize jewish orgs that take positions on it.
