Sociology places an emphasis on demonstrating concrete ties between actors. This can be national governments, trade unions or economic firms. Relations are multiplex and combine more than one type of tie and can change over time. Colleagues might become friends, friends become lovers and then lovers become enemies. All types of ties involve an interaction on some type of scale. The state of play is best looked at by the interaction history. The relation between two actors is decided upon by their past interactions and how they anticipate their future interactions to go in the future. Positive ties involve interdependency between the who actors. Powers depend on one another for a desired good and they have the possibility of withdrawing the good which could make them vulnerable to the demands of the other actor. The power can also me imbalance where one of the parties has more power than the other which causes them to dominate.
