ANTHROP 2PA3 Chapter Notes -Hand Axe, Muskrat, Debitage
Document Summary
Introduction to anthropological archaeology: list of named types and their distinguishing attributes: Bulb of percussion tapes off to one side. Similar thickness to projectile points but missing the base. 1: frequency and percentage of each type in each assemblage: Adzes are found in all but one assemblage (assemblage 1a & 1b). Mac points are found in all but one assemblage (assemblage 1a & Mac points have relatively higher frequencies compared to other tools in assemblages 2-5, which also account for the presence of high amounts of debitages in all sites. Ceramics are mostly found in greater quantities in upper layers of the midden (except assemblage 4b & 5b, where ceramic is also present on the lower layer). This proliferation of the presence of ceramic in all sites, especially in the upper layers of the midden could indicate a later common adoption of ceramic. Projectile points are exclusively found in both assemblages in site 1.
