Health canada reviews every new drug product before it can be sold in canada. The process can take between one and two years: the drug manufacturer must submit scientific proof to health canada. Follows all canadian quality standards: health canada will review and approve the drug if it meets these conditions, health canada will issue a notice of compliance (noc) and a drug identification. Health canada (hc) monitors the safety of markets drugs by collecting, analyzing, and assessing domestic adverse drug reaction reports that are submitted by the pharmaceutical industry, health professionals, and consumers. In 2010, hc received about 30,000 domestic adverse drug reactions submitted by the pharmaceutical industry.
