PHILOS 2XX3 Chapter 3: Demonstration of the Being.. pg 75 - 80 Notes
Document Summary
Philos 2xx3 readings pages 75 80 notes. The essence of the self existent being incomprehensible. We have no idea about the substance or essence of that being. Not possible for us to comprehend it. This does not diminish the certainty of its existence. It is one thing to know certainly a being exists, it is another to know the essence of that being. One may be demonstrably while the other is beyond the reach of our faculties to understand. A blind or deaf man has more reason to deny the being of sound or light than any atheist can have to deny the existence of god. Nothing more unreasonable and weak, than an atheist denying god based off of weak and finite understanding: unable to frame adequate notion of substance or essence of supreme being/original cause. We are ignorant of the substance/essence of things we think we understand best.
