Liberal thinking influenced policy-making elite public opinions in many western states. Even after ww1, it was known as idealism. When un was born, brief resurgence of liberal sentiment; died due to cold war. Realist believed that there can be no law, no justoce, no progress when no common pwr. Is right to own property, including productive forces: most effective system of economics exchange is one that largely market-driven, not one subordinate to bureaucratic regulation and control. Also, has conservatism, higher value on order/ authority and willing to sacrifice the liberty of the indiv. Liberalists agree w/realist that war is a recurring feature of the anarchic system.
