Document Summary

Organisms evolve to maximize their fitness and reproductive success. Behaving altruistically, helping others at a cost to themselves. Virtually all honey bees in a colony don"t ever reproduce, they don"t have. In belding"s ground squirrels, individuals will frequently give alarm calls to functioning reproductive organs. The whistle blowing it draws attention to itself, altering the predator to its exact location. Humans spend time helping friends and family. 4 kinds of social behaviors: cooperation, altruism, selfish, spite. Geese travel in groups in order to find food, there are more eyes looking for food. Even though there will be food taken from you on occasion, you can also take others food. Another advantage is that while one is foraging the other is vigilant and on the lookout for predators. Trade-off is reduced when animals forage in groups. The good of the group is only a side-effect of favoring the good of the individual.
