Roots of memory are laid down in the first few months after birth. Young babies remember events for days or weeks at a time. Memory improves rapidly in older infants and toddlers. Research shows that children can recall more of what they and the babies would kick to move the mobile months of age experience and remember it longer. Memory is used for briefly storing a small amount of information, such as the words in these sentences. As we read additional sentences, they displace words read earlier from working memory. If you want to learn all of this info, it must be transferred to and retained in long-term memory. Anything not transferred from working memory to long-term.
