Anxiety is a negaive mood state characterized by bodily symptoms of physical tension and apprehension about the future. Originates in the brain but has physiological response. We perform beter when we are a litle anxious, but too much anxiety is bad. Difers from fear because fear is an immediate response to a current danger. Panic atack is an abrupt experience of intense fear or discomfort accompanied by physical symptoms: expected panic atack: lying, driving related to phobias, unexpected panic atack: don"t know where or when next atack will happen. Social contribuions: can trigger physical reacions and emoional reacions. Integrated model: includes biological (geneics), general psychological (growing up feeling like you have no control) and speciic psychological (some situaions are fraught with danger, anxiety and panic are related, anxiety increases likelihood of panic. Comorbidity among anxiety and related disorders are high shows that they share the common features of anxiety and panic.
