The i and the me: me (epistemological self) - sort of object, which can be observe and described, describe yourself as friendly, statements you make, looked at. I (ontological self) - the rather mysterious entity that does the observing and describing: how you feel deep down about being friendly, person in your head, doing the looking. The contents and purposes of the self: me includes everything we hold dear, so includes not just our personality traits, but also our body, home, possessions and even family members. Self jobs. : self regulation - ability to restrain impulses and keep focused on long term goals. Information processing filter - guiding us to focus on and remember the information that really matters to us, as well as to keep it organized: help us relate to others. Identity - to remind us of where we fit in.
