Broca"s area the region of the left frontal lobe that controls our ability to articulate speech sounds that compose words (damages to this area are called broca"s aphasia) Individual words are produced without grammatical flair (articles, suffixes or prefixes) Wernicke"s area the area of the brain most associated with finding the meaning of words (damages to this area are called wernicke"s aphasia) Speech does not make sense to other people. Language form of communication that involves the use of spoken, written or gestural symbols that are combined in a rule-based form. Can involve communication about objects and events that are not in present time and place. Language lets us link different sounds with different meanings in order to understand and communicate with other people.
