The protestant ethic and the spirit" of capitalism (1905) was his best known work: weber was a historian who became a sociologist while also remaining an economist. He was also captivated by politics, law and religion: weber maintained that social action is the conceptual framework of our understanding of societal structures. Weber"s first major project was economy and society.
