Often times we hear more about the criminal than the victim(s) It takes the victims a lot of courage to report the incident and then be able to stand trial and testify their experience(especially sexual assault victims) Victimologists study victim experiences and the larger victimization trends. Rather than emphasizes the offender-centered approach, victimology studies the victim- centered approach. It is still a relatively new area of study. Most people tended to study criminals and whether they were born or made. Most people understand the dictionary term for victim. Victim: a person harmed, injured or killed as a result of a crime, accident or other event or action. There is a car accident where the both drivers and passengers of both cars are injured. The circumstances surrounding the event are critical to addressing victimization. Primary victim: a person who is directly harmed s a result of a victimizing experience.
