Leda, wife of tyndareus, king of sparta, bore four children to zeus, who visited her in the shape of a swan; the four were born from two eggs, polydeuces and helen from one, castor and clytemnestra from the other. The daughters of zeus and leda were clytemnestra and helen. Helen grew up to be the most beautiful of women, and from the many greek princes who were her suitors, she chose menelaus, who became king of sparta. The rejected suitors swore to respect her choice and help menelaus in time of need. In time, the trojan prince paris (also called alexander) visited sparta while menelaus was away. He then seduced helen and took her back to troy, whereby all the previous suitors who had sworn allegiance to. Menelaus had to go fight troy for her release under agamemnon"s command (brother of menelaus). The olympian gods were guests at the wedding feast of peleus and thetis.
