It creates a solid platform for other management function. It makes sure you are one step ahead of your competitions. It helps anticipate the future needs of the market before demand asserts itself. Planning focuses on objectives and it should create a real plan, a statement of action steps to be taken in order to accomplish the objectives. Improves action orientation- it keeps the future visible as a performance target. Avoid complacency trap, which is being carries along by the flow of events. The keys to success is time management. You should make choices that allocate your time to the most important priorities. Long-range- the eastern society uses more long range. Normally any plans made for more than 3 years from today would be a long range plan.
