Mass murders also took place in soviet union, ukraine, and lithuania simultaneously. Prior to beginning of operation barbarossa, german forces had not ordered killing of jews in occupied territory. Violence used in poland to deal with civilian population and jews in 1939 caused some concern amongst some german military members, voiced concern over effects mass executions and atrocities would have.
