Frequent, imely, and accurate communicaion remains the primary means through which employees and work units efecively synchronize their work. An organizaion comes into being when people are able to communicate. Knowledge enters organizaions and is distributed through the means of communicaion. Making decisions requires informaion about context, alternaives available, outcomes, and extent to achieving objecives. When communicaion, we oten try to alter others beliefs and feelings and ulimately their behaviour. Communicaion conveys knowledge that helps employees to beter manage their work environment. Communicaion is the means through which drives and needs are fulilled. Efecive communicaion depends on the ability of sender and receiver to eiciently and accurately encode and decode informaion. If the sender and receiver have similar codebooks, senders encoding proiciency, moivaion and ability, and shared mental models of communicaion help increase efecive communicaion: similar codebooks. Codebooks are dicionaries of symbols, language, gestures, idioms, and other tools used to convey informaion.
